Full Job Description
Morgan Stanley seeks a Senior Data Engineer - Parametric in Mumbai, MH, IN to manage and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering growth and driving team culture and objectives. This role involves leading development projects throughout the entire lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, bug fixes, and enhancements. You will collaborate with team members to design and implement data solutions aligned with project schedules, coding, testing, and documenting new or modified data systems to build a robust and scalable data platform. Ensuring consistency across all data solutions with developers is key. You will expand and grow data platform capabilities to address new data challenges and create data flow diagrams for business systems. Security and recovery tools and techniques implementation, logical model design, and physical database implementation to support business needs are also part of the responsibilities. You will develop, test, implement, and maintain data applications, and design/implement data models in coordination with business stakeholders and project managers. Resolving conflicts between models and ensuring consistency with the ecosystem model is crucial. This position demands modeling best practices in data management, leading or participating in data management policy creation and enforcement, and evaluating future technologies and new releases. Contributing to business continuity and disaster recovery requirements for data systems and databases is expected. Requirements include 3+ years in the Financial Services Industry, 3+ years managing a development team of over 3 people, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering (or equivalent experience), and 9+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or software engineering. Essential technical skills include 4+ years of experience with Snowflake, 4+ years in AWS cloud stack (S3, IAM, Athena, SNS, SQS, EMR), 7+ years of SQL Server experience with SSIS and SSRS, and programming proficiency in Python and Linux bash. Candidates should possess the capability to architect highly scalable distributed systems using open-source tools, demonstrated experience with agile or other rapid application development methods, and experience with object-oriented design, coding, and testing patterns. Expert knowledge of data modeling, understanding of data structures, and experience with Big Data batch and streaming tools are required. Excellent collaboration, communication skills with business users, stakeholders, and developers, and the ability to foster strong work ethics, open dialogue, and team success are essential. A Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering and certifications in AWS or Snowflake are a plus.
