Senior Data Engineer

Parexel is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their team in Hyderabad / Secunderabad, Telangana, India. This role focuses on creating and maintaining standardized, yet customizable, data visualization templates to empower study teams with high-impact graphical tools for early-stage development decision-making. The specialist will also act as a partner and support point for clinical scientists, providing training and consultation to optimize the use of visual analytics in study workflows. Key responsibilities include ensuring scalability, compliance, and scientific relevance to accelerate insight generation for both exploratory and safety-critical endpoints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage standardized data visualizations for Medical Data Review and safety signal detection, adhering to established templates and guidance.
• Implement defined visualization standards to generate outputs aligned with Risk-Based Quality Management (RBQM) principles and Critical to Quality (CtQ) endpoints.
• Work within project timelines, including First Patient In (FPI) or predefined safety milestones, to integrate visual analytics.
• Ensure traceability and compliance through documentation and quality control of visualization deliverables.
• Participate in training sessions and incorporate feedback from senior team members.
• Assist in addressing basic stakeholder requests and clarifying data availability or visualization functionality.
• Apply independent judgment and contextual understanding to interpret guidance, prioritize tasks, and make decisions under general supervision.
• Address moderately complex statistical or data issues, balancing scientific rigor with flexibility, and seek guidance for novel or ambiguous situations.
• Uphold functional standards through peer review and mentoring to enhance quality and build expertise in methodology and regulatory requirements.

Required Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in life sciences, computer science, data science, bioinformatics, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in clinical data, visualization, or analytics, or an advanced degree with equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in R Shiny & Git.
• Experience with R and the tidyverse package.
• Basic understanding of clinical trial data and common data structures (e.g., CRF data).
• Strong attention to detail, logical thinking, and a willingness to learn visualization standards and clinical workflows.
• Demonstrated respect for cultural differences in a global workplace.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to clinical or safety data structures and terminology (e.g., adverse events, lab results, dosing).
• Experience with R package development, R Teal, R shiny developer experience, or Claud code.
• Familiarity with Risk-Based Quality Management (RBQM) concepts and their application in early development.
• Interest in visual storytelling and user experience in data interpretation.
• Ability to adhere to visual design templates and maintain style consistency.
• Curiosity and a desire to learn visualization standards and workflows within a regulated environment.
