PayPal is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Marketing Technology team in Bengaluru, India. This team is dedicated to building a best-in-class marketing technology platform. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing robust backend data pipelines using Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery, Bigtable, and Dataproc, with a strong emphasis on Python programming. Your responsibilities will include providing technical leadership, contributing to the definition, development, integration, testing, documentation, and support of solutions across multiple platforms such as Unix, Python, and GCP services.

Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and growing a high-performance team, building scalable systems, driving technical discussions, participating in code reviews, and mentoring the team on engineering best practices. You will write quality code, build secure, highly available systems, and manage project deliverables, timelines, and priorities to meet deadlines. Knowledge sharing and efficient onboarding of new team members are also key aspects of this role, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
What You Need to Bring:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent technical education and work experience.
- At least 8 years of ETL expertise, including managing data extraction, transformation, and loading from various sources using advanced SQL and Python/Jupyter Notebooks.
- At least 3 years of experience in GCP Cloud services and Streaming Integrations (mandatory).
- At least 4 years of experience in designing and building highly scalable distributed applications capable of handling very high volumes of data in GCP using BigQuery and Python.
- Strong conceptual knowledge in Data Warehouses, Data Marts, distributed data platforms, data lakes, Data Modeling, Schema design, and CI/CD.
- Proven experience leading teams within a global, complex matrix organization.
- Experience working on SaaS platforms; experience with Adobe-RTCDP is a plus.
- Experience using Atlassian JIRA, Service Now, and Atlassian Confluence tools.
- Experience delivering projects using Agile Methodology.
