Senior Data Business Analyst Opportunity in Chennai, Tamil Nadu

EPAM Systems is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Business Analyst to join our team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. This role is crucial for bridging the gap between business needs and data-driven solutions. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and product teams to translate complex business requirements into actionable data strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Requirement Gathering: Engage with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and meticulously document data requirements.
• Solution Design: Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, robust data models, and efficient process flows.
• Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth data analysis using advanced SQL queries to uncover insights and validate hypotheses.
• ETL & Data Pipelines: Partner with ETL and data engineering teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data pipelines and transformations.
• Data Warehousing: Support Data Warehousing initiatives, including the development and maintenance of conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Data Mapping: Develop and maintain comprehensive data mapping documents and source-to-target (S2T) specifications.
• Data Quality: Perform rigorous data validation, profiling, and quality checks to guarantee data accuracy and reliability.
• Reporting & KPIs: Assist in defining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), building dashboards, and supporting reporting requirements.
• Communication: Effectively communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Cloud Data Services (Advantageous): Work with cloud data services (AWS/Azure/GCP) for data ingestion, storage, and processing.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
• SQL Expertise: Strong SQL skills with the proven ability to write complex and optimized queries.
• Data Warehousing: Solid understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and best practices.
• ETL Processes: Hands-on experience with ETL processes and data transformation logic.
• Data Modeling: Good knowledge of Data Modeling techniques, including dimensional and relational modeling.
• Data Mapping: Proven experience in Data Mapping and documenting S2T specifications.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Communication: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to cloud data platforms such as AWS (Redshift, Glue, Athena, S3), Azure (Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks), or GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub).
• Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
• Basic understanding of data governance principles and metadata management.
