Senior Backend Engineer

SmartBear is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Zephyr Enterprise team in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This role is integral to transforming Zephyr Enterprise to better align products with user requirements while maintaining market leadership in the Test Management Vertical. The successful candidate will work from our Bangalore office in a hybrid model.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will solve complex business problems and build highly scalable, available, and user-friendly applications. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, you will develop solutions using the latest tools and technologies, actively participate in problem resolution, and communicate status, issues, and risks effectively. Responsibilities include writing code according to product requirements, creating new products, developing automated tests, contributing to system testing, and adhering to an agile development methodology.

You will engage with both business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and services that meet business expectations. This includes developing scalable, real-time, low-latency data egress/ingress solutions. The role requires designing, documenting, and implementing new systems, as well as enhancing existing software with code that adheres to design specifications, security, and Java best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Solve challenging business problems and build highly scalable applications.
• Design, document, and implement new systems in Java 17.
• Build microservices using HTTP, REST, JSON, and XML.
• Write code per product requirements and create new products.
• Develop automated tests and contribute to system testing in an agile environment.
• Interact with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
• Develop scalable, real-time, low-latency data egress/ingress solutions.

Required Qualifications:

• 4-7 years of hands-on experience with Java 17 or higher.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with API-driven development, including working with remote data via SOAP, REST, and JSON.
• Proficiency in Agile (SCRUM) methodology, preferably using JIRA.
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), Spring Framework, and Microservices architecture.
• Experience with Application Performance Tuning, Scaling, Security, and Resiliency Best Practices.
• Experience with Relational or NoSQL databases, level design, and core Java patterns.
• Familiarity with AWS stack, RDS, S3, Elastic Cache, Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC), and Agile/SCRUM development.
• Experience with Messaging Queues, preferably RabbitMQ.
• Experience with the Atlassian suite of products and their plugin ecosystem.

Good to Have:

• Experience with React and JavaScript.
