Senior Backend Engineer

SmartBear is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Zephyr Enterprise team in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This role involves solving complex business challenges and developing highly scalable applications. The successful candidate will design, document, and implement new systems using Java 17, building microservices that communicate via HTTP, REST, JSON, and XML. This is a hybrid position based in the Bangalore office.

Zephyr Enterprise is undergoing a transformation to better align its products with end-user requirements while maintaining its market leadership in the Test Management vertical. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in this transformation, contributing to the development of scalable and available applications that deliver an excellent user experience.

Key responsibilities include writing code according to product requirements, creating new products, developing automated tests, contributing to system testing, and working within an agile development framework. You will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and services. The role also involves developing scalable, real-time, low-latency data egress/ingress solutions.

The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of hands-on experience with Java 17 or higher and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience with API-driven development (SOAP, REST, JSON), Agile (SCRUM) methodologies, Spring Framework, Microservices architecture, performance tuning, scaling, security, resiliency best practices, relational or NoSQL databases, and core Java patterns is essential.

Additional desired experience includes the AWS stack (RDS, S3, Elastic cache), SSDLC, messaging queues (preferably RabbitMQ), and the Atlassian suite of products. Experience with React and JavaScript is a plus.
