Senior Backend Engineer

NeoSapien is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with strong hands-on engineering skills and proven backend technical leadership. You will lead initiatives focused on high-performance, scalable systems while actively contributing to architecture and code reviews. The ideal candidate has led production teams at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Lead engineers in designing high-performance production systems.
• Drive architectural decisions for APIs, distributed services, and data-intensive applications.
• Maintain hands-on coding while mentoring the team on best practices.
• Optimize system latency, reliability, and scalability under high traffic.

Requirements:

• 4-7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong production experience in Python, Go, or Rust.
• Expertise in distributed systems, databases, caching, and asynchronous processing.
• GCP/AWS cloud deployment experience preferred.

Leadership:You must have prior experience as a backend lead with demonstrated technical ownership, code reviews, architecture decisions, mentoring, and delivery accountability. Formal people management is not mandatory.

Cloud & Production:Hands-on experience deploying systems in the cloud (GCP preferred) with strong understanding of observability and incident management.
