Senior Associate

Morgan Stanley's Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a global leader in the origination, distribution, and trading of equity, equity-linked, and equity-derivative securities. Within IED, the Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) group specializes in developing rules-based investment strategies to offer clients diverse market exposures.

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join the QIS Strats team in Mumbai. As an integral part of the Global QIS data platform team, you will contribute to innovative projects, utilizing data to generate insights and deliver solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and improve dashboards for data and index telemetry, providing insights to Sales, Trading, and Management.
• Acquire and analyze datasets from various internal and external data providers.
• Cultivate deep understanding of datasets and assist in developing intelligent quality checks.
• Oversee data quality maintenance and governance, as well as index publication processes.
• Collaborate with Technology data platform teams to engineer scalable and dependable solutions.
• Partner with Structuring, QIS Strats, and Technology teams to build Python toolkits and custom data adaptors for the research platform.
• Actively contribute to the automation and streamlining of data workflows.

Skills Required (Essential):

• A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in data science or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in Python, Pandas, and Numpy. Strong command of SQL and general development principles, including unit testing.
• A strong interest and demonstrated experience in data science and quantitative domains.
• Comfort working in UNIX/Linux environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A driven attitude and a desire to thrive in an intense, team-oriented environment.

Additional Useful Knowledge:

• Familiarity with equity or fixed income markets, or general financial market awareness is advantageous.
• Knowledge of KDB/Q.
• Proficiency in Java.
• Experience with data visualization and dashboard creation.
