Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior API Platform Engineer to lead the backend engineering for our modern data intelligence platform. This role is central to YPO's digital transformation, serving as the connective tissue across our member ecosystem and emerging Agentic AI capabilities.

Your Mission

• Design and build production-scale REST and GraphQL APIs using AWS API Gateway within a serverless-first architecture (Lambda & Step Functions).
• Create decoupled, stable API contracts that manage complex relationship-driven data models.
• Solve architectural challenges involving caching, consistency, concurrency, latency, security, and observability.

Key Responsibilities

API Architecture: Apply Domain-Driven Design principles to define service boundaries. Implement versioning strategies ensuring backward compatibility while supporting breaking changes where necessary.

Distributed Systems: Utilize event-driven patterns with Kafka, EventBridge, and CDC to design idempotent workflows addressing failure recovery across interconnected services.

Agentic Ecosystem Engineering: Build governed API boundaries for AI agents (OpenAI, Gemini) ensuring they interact through approved channels rather than unrestricted data access. Implement structured retrieval, provenance tracking, and deterministic fallbacks.

• Lifecycle & Governance: Own the full lifecycle from design to deprecation. Maintain CI/CD pipelines using Terraform or AWS CDK.
  
  Collaborate with Security teams on identity management (OAuth2/Auth0), authorization, and privacy compliance including GDPR/CCPA.
