Senior Android Engineer

Okta is seeking a Senior Android Engineer with a strong focus on UI Components to join their team in Bengaluru, India. This hybrid role requires 2-3 days onsite per week and involves building and maintaining UI components, SDKs, and libraries. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of developer needs and a passion for creating exceptional developer experiences. Responsibilities include developing UI Components using Jetpack Compose/XML views, writing and curating developer resources like tutorials and documentation, shaping open-source UI Components SDKs, and engaging directly with the developer community.

Key contributions will involve championing Auth0, acting as an internal and external expert in relevant technologies, and sharing technical expertise at conferences. The role also includes troubleshooting and fixing issues with libraries. This position is ideal for someone with 5+ years of Android development expertise, 3+ years in Jetpack Compose, and a proven ability to seamlessly implement Figma mocks into Compose. Experience developing Android UI libraries, SDKs, or apps, a solid understanding of the Android frameworks and ecosystem, and experience rolling out applications to the Play Store or Maven Central are essential. Familiarity with CI platforms like GitHub Actions or CircleCI, expertise in mobile application testing within a CI environment, and strong UI testing skills are also required. Excellent communication, collaboration, and self-direction are critical for success in this role. Bonus points for experience with iOS development, distributed teams, open-source contributions, technical blogging, or knowledge in identity and access management.
