Senior AI Engineer

Assent is looking for a highly experienced Senior AI Engineer with extensive expertise in designing and developing advanced AI/ML systems, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agent-based architectures. This role is suited for a seasoned technologist with over 10 years of software development experience, including a minimum of 3 years focused on AI/ML, who excels at the intersection of systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, and cutting-edge AI applications.

In this position, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and optimizing AI-driven solutions within enterprise-scale environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, product, and research teams to embed intelligent features into our products and services. A key aspect of your role will involve operationalizing AI systems, ensuring their reliability, security, and performance at scale.

The Senior AI Engineer will act as a systems-oriented innovator, dedicated to building robust AI platforms, advancing applied AI capabilities, and delivering significant business value through continuous innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Develop AI Systems: Architect, build, and optimize sophisticated AI solutions, including LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agent-based architectures.
• Operationalize AI Agents: Deploy, orchestrate, and manage multi-agent systems for enterprise use cases, utilizing frameworks such as MCP, LangChain Agents, CrewAI, AutoGen, or A2A/ADK.
• Agent Lifecycle Management: Establish best practices for managing agent state, coordinating roles, monitoring performance, and handling retraining and rollback procedures to ensure reliability and accountability.
• Autonomy Guardrails: Implement policies, controls, and observability mechanisms to govern agent behavior, prevent unintended actions, and adhere to Responsible AI standards.
• Integration Architecture: Facilitate the integration of agents with APIs, microservices, and message-driven systems to enable seamless collaboration among agents, humans, and enterprise services.
• Responsible AI & Security: Apply governance, fairness, security, and compliance controls to ensure safe, ethical, and regulatory-compliant agent operations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to develop AI features that drive business value and enhance user experience.
• Drive Continuous Innovation: Stay informed about emerging AI engineering trends and evaluate/adopt new tools and frameworks to enhance the AI platform strategy.
• Adhere to Corporate Security: Familiarize yourself with and follow Assent's corporate security policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Industry Experience: A minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years specifically in AI/ML systems (LLMs, RAG, agent-based architectures).
• Programming Proficiency: Expert coding skills in Python, C#, and Angular/JavaScript; experience with coding assistants is beneficial.
• Agentic AI Tooling: Practical experience with frameworks like MCP, A2A/ADK, LangChain, CrewAI, and AutoGen.
• Cloud Expertise: Strong knowledge of AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP, with experience in cloud-native services for LLM workloads.
• Systems Thinking: Deep understanding of event-driven architectures, distributed systems, message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Rabbitmq, Solace PubSub+), and microservices.
• DevOps Fluency: Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code; ability to collaborate with DevOps teams for scalable and reliable agent operations.
• Responsible AI Awareness: Understanding of AI security, fairness, governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Product Orientation: Ability to translate business challenges into AI/ML solutions, define use cases, and actively participate in early-stage ideation.
• Collaboration & Communication: Excellent ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence product direction, and articulate technical trade-offs effectively.
