Senior AI Engineer

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent remote position for a Senior AI Engineer, reporting to Calyx Global, a client of Uplers. The role involves building and deploying agentic, LLM-powered systems to advance their platform, with a focus on creating new AI capabilities from the ground up and contributing to climate-focused initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Develop and deploy intelligent agentic workflows using LLMs, retrieval systems, and multi-step reasoning, integrating with existing data and software ecosystems.
• Design robust pipelines for extracting and processing information from unstructured data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user needs into scalable AI solutions.
• Lead performance evaluation, reliability improvements, and safe deployment of AI systems.
• Contribute to shaping the AI strategy and high-impact product initiatives.

What You Bring

• Minimum 2 years of experience building Agentic AI LLM applications.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI frameworks like LangChain, OpenAI Agents/Assistants, and LlamaIndex.
• Hands-on experience with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, prompt design, and agent orchestration.
• Ability to design multi-step agentic systems that interact with external APIs and tools.
• Strong software development fundamentals including testing, CI/CD, code quality, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• A collaborative spirit and comfort working in ambiguous, fast-paced startup environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with scientific or technical data domains.
• Familiarity with document processing, PDF parsing, or Information Retrieval (IR) systems.
• MLOps experience (monitoring, observability, scaling).
• A keen interest in climate, sustainability, or environmental intelligence.
