Senior AI & Data Platform Engineer

About the Role

Altura is seeking a hands-on Senior AI & Data Platform Engineer to develop critical data and conversational AI components for an existing enterprise SaaS analytics platform. In this role, you will take full ownership of the BigQuery analytical layer, governed data APIs, and a production-ready AI analytics agent, working closely with technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and extend existing BigQuery Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers to enhance platform capabilities.
• Implement robust multi-tenant Row-Level Security (RLS) and PII masking protocols.
• Define governed semantic metrics and create typed analytical APIs for seamless integration.
• Reconcile business KPIs against existing Power BI reporting frameworks.
• Build a scalable AI analytics agent using Vertex AI or equivalent solutions.
• Implement advanced function calling, Pydantic / JSON Schema validation, and structured JSON outputs.
• Manage AI sessions efficiently with Redis while ensuring secure tenant isolation.
• Integrate forecasting services and external analytical APIs into the core platform.
• Create automated evaluations, integration tests, and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Ensure strict safety protocols where LLMs cannot generate or execute SQL directly.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Python backend development and data engineering.
• Strong expertise in BigQuery, SQL, and the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proven track record implementing LLM agents in production environments.
• Experience with function calling architectures, Redis databases, API integrations, and Pydantic models.
• Familiarity with semantic layers, dimensional modeling, and dbt/Dataform tools.
• Deep understanding of SaaS security principles, access controls, and data governance best practices.
