About the Role

Our team is at the forefront of cybersecurity, investigating aggregated signals and safeguarding Google's sensitive data by ensuring appropriate access controls. We collaborate closely with Detection and Response teams, the Threat Analysis Group (TAG), and other vital partners to validate and assess the severity of security issues. The Detection Team continuously innovates by developing and maintaining sophisticated signals, tools, and infrastructure to counter advanced attackers.

As a Security Analyst, you will be instrumental in conducting in-depth security analysis, proactive threat hunting, and detailed analysis of malware and indicators. Your responsibilities will encompass managing all malicious activity across Google's global networks, performing deep dives into threats within our enterprise, production, and cloud environments.

The Core team, to which this role contributes, builds the technical bedrock of Google's flagship products. We champion the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure that enable excellent, secure, and coherent user experiences, driving innovation across all of Google. We analyze Google's extensive product landscape to create centralized solutions, dismantle technical impediments, and fortify existing systems. As the Core team, we are empowered to make significant technical decisions that shape the company's future.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze, investigate, and respond effectively to security alerts.
• Research and develop innovative hunt techniques to proactively identify and discover security threats.
• Automate critical workflows and create essential tooling to minimize manual effort and improve efficiency.
• Ensure strict adherence to legal mandates and Google's internal Security and Privacy policies.
• Lead response efforts for low-severity security incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience in analyzing cyber threats.
• Proven experience in security analysis, intrusion detection, SQL, malware detection, and log analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• 2 years of experience in security operations or assurance.
• Experience in conducting security assessments or reviews to evaluate underlying risks.
• Exceptional written communication skills.
