SDE IV

Jumio seeks a skilled Software Development Engineer IV (SDE IV) to join our remote team. This senior individual contributor role is pivotal in designing and implementing robust, scalable backend systems. You will lead complex feature development, influence architectural decisions, and mentor fellow engineers. Key responsibilities include:

Technical Design and Development: Lead the full lifecycle of key backend and frontend features. Collaborate on designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems. Write clean, modular, and testable code using TDD principles and design patterns. Ensure seamless integration between backend services and frontend applications.

Mentorship and Technical Leadership: Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical guidance. Promote engineering excellence, including peer reviews, static code analysis, and CI/CD best practices. Help establish coding standards and development workflows.

Innovation and Tooling: Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI tools to optimize development and testing processes. Evaluate and recommend new frameworks, libraries, or tools to enhance team productivity and code quality.

Quality and Performance: Collaborate with QA and SRE teams to ensure high performance, availability, and comprehensive test coverage. Develop and maintain automated test suites for various testing levels. Monitor production systems, analyze performance, and address bottlenecks proactively.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions. Actively participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, estimations, retrospectives, and post-mortems. Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

A minimum of 6 years of software development experience, with a strong emphasis on backend development (e.g., Java, Spring Boot). Frontend framework experience (e.g., React, Angular) is advantageous. Proficiency in RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines. Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker), Git, and Agile methodologies. Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and performance optimization skills. Familiarity with or enthusiasm for integrating LLMs/AI tools into engineering workflows.

Desired Skills:

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Knowledge of testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, TestNG, Rest Assured). Experience in DevOps environments and with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
