Join Purplle's SCM Engineering team, responsible for building and scaling the sophisticated systems that power our warehousing, logistics, post-order experience, and third-party integrations. We are seeking a highly skilled backend engineer with deep expertise in Node.js and NestJS to design, develop, scale, and maintain robust, production-grade systems in Mumbai. The ideal candidate is AI-native, leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity while maintaining strong engineering fundamentals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and develop highly scalable backend services using Node.js and/or NestJS.
• Create well-structured, maintainable APIs and microservices.
• Design and optimize data models for MySQL and MongoDB.
• Implement effective caching strategies utilizing Redis.
• Build and manage event-driven architectures with Kafka.
• Deploy and maintain services on Kubernetes within cloud environments (GCP/AWS).
• Responsibly integrate AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, and refactoring processes.
• Take ownership of features from initial architecture through development, deployment, and ongoing performance optimization.
• Continuously enhance system reliability, scalability, and overall efficiency.

Qualifications:

• 3 to 6 years of backend development experience within a product-centric organization.
• Mandatory strong hands-on experience with Node.js.
• Demonstrated experience with Express.js and/or NestJS.
• Solid understanding of system design principles, distributed systems, and database performance tuning.
• Proven track record of building and scaling high-performance production systems.
• Proficiency in utilizing AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Copilot) with strong prompt engineering and validation skills.
• Excellent debugging and performance optimization capabilities.
• A collaborative team player with a strong work ethic, capable of cross-functional collaboration and end-to-end project ownership.
