SDE - 3

Simplilearn is seeking a proficient Software Development Engineer (SDE 3) with a minimum of 3 years of experience, specializing in backend development. This role requires hands-on expertise with modern JavaScript frameworks and robust database management. The ideal candidate will be adept at constructing scalable APIs, optimizing backend systems, and collaborating effectively within an agile, cross-functional team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Develop full-stack features utilizing Next.js.
• Build and optimize server-side applications using Node.js and Express.js.
• Contribute to software component design, development, implementation, and support across the full-stack.
• Manage data modeling and query optimization with MongoDB and MySQL.
• Maintain and enhance existing systems developed in PHP.
• Collaborate closely with designers, frontend and backend developers, and product managers.
• Uphold code quality through rigorous reviews, testing, and adherence to best practices.
• Integrate third-party APIs and external services.
• Ensure cross-browser and mobile compatibility for all frontend components.

Essential Requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years focused on Node.js, Next.js, MongoDB, MySQL, and PHP.
• Strong proficiency in full-stack TypeScript development using Node.js, Express.js, and Next.js (including App Router, SSR, SSG, ISR).
• Demonstrated experience in data modeling and performance tuning for both relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Firebase) databases.
• Solid understanding and experience with authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
• Proficiency with Git for version control.
• A good grasp of system design principles.
• A firm understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Practical exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) tools for coding assistance, optimization, and documentation.
• The ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code for production readiness.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with caching layers like Redis or Memcached.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Prior experience working within agile development methodologies.

Educational Background:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
