Senior Software Engineer (SDE III) - Backend Engineering

In this pivotal role at Loop AI, you will significantly influence our backend architecture, champion technical excellence, and mentor fellow engineers. You will also engage directly with clients to ensure our solutions effectively address real-world challenges within the food-tech industry.

Core Responsibilities:

System Architecture:

• Design and implement scalable backend system architectures aligned with current needs and future vision.
• Lead initiatives to enhance system performance, scalability, and reliability across all services.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices for code quality, testing, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and monitoring.
• Collaborate closely with product management and leadership to synchronize technology strategy with business objectives.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving:

• Apply first-principles thinking to tackle complex technical challenges.
• Proactively question existing assumptions and propose innovative, practical solutions.
• Evaluate trade-offs between development speed and system scalability, balancing immediate deliverables with long-term architectural goals.

Team Collaboration and Mentorship:

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level and junior engineers.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and contribute to cultivating a high-quality engineering culture.
• Assume ownership of projects, driving them from initial concept through to successful deployment.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in building and scaling backend systems.
• Profound expertise in Python, Django, and PostgreSQL, or a comparable backend technology stack.
• Demonstrated ability to architect, design, and optimize backend services within production environments.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including data pipelines and orchestration tools such as DBT.
• Exceptional debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
• A self-starting attitude with a strong sense of ownership, capable of independently driving projects in a fast-paced startup setting.
• Familiarity with frontend technologies like React or other JavaScript frameworks, with a willingness to learn.
• Experience developing customer-facing products, particularly in B2B SaaS, food-tech, or logistics platforms.
• Proven track record of mentoring engineers and contributing to the scaling of engineering teams.
• Strong product sense, coupled with curiosity and a passion for resolving genuine customer problems.
