About the Role
As a Chief Scrum Master, you will be instrumental in fostering an agile culture and driving successful project outcomes. Your responsibilities will include training corporate teams on agile methodologies, overseeing the development and effectiveness of agile teams, and guiding the organization through agile implementation processes. You will be a key advocate, encouraging both employees and leadership to adopt and embrace agile principles. This role serves as a facilitator and catalyst for collaboration, bridging the gap between Scrum teams and Open Innovation teams to proactively identify and address internal and external dependencies, impediments, and blockers that could hinder the achievement of sprint goals and deliverables. Furthermore, you will support Scrum Masters across the organization in building robust release trains and ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
What You Will Do
- Act as a servant leader and change agent, coaching Scrum Masters, individuals, and teams within a large or complex business area to adopt Agile principles, values, and practices, while embodying organizational leadership behaviors.
- Understand and support the implementation of metrics to optimize Key Performance Indicator (KPI) delivery through assessments of responsiveness, quality, productivity, and customer and business value.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions on Agile topics, utilizing established toolkits and internally developed content.
- Proactively identify and raise observed issues, remove impediments, and resolve conflicts within and across teams. Anticipate challenges, identify risks, and recommend appropriate mitigations and solutions.
- Continuously assess the Agile maturity of teams and individuals at all leadership levels, providing education and mentorship to address identified gaps.
- Contribute to internal and external Agile communities to stay current with challenges, leading practices, and emerging trends, applying these learnings to enhance the effective use of Agile practices within the organization.
- Facilitate open communication channels among teams and stakeholders, promoting positive team dynamics to ensure effective collaboration within and across teams.
- Employ coaching techniques that enhance collaboration, transparency, and foster a culture of experimentation and innovation.
- Drive the embedding of an agile culture using a wide range of agile and SAFe methodologies and frameworks, and assist in developing release train plans that deliver high-quality, business-centric products to customers.
- Facilitate key agile ceremonies including Daily Standups, Increment Planning, Retrospectives, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Scrum-of-Scrums, and System, Increment, and Innovation & Planning Demonstrations.
- Track and communicate team velocity, sprint/release progress, and project status to cohort teams.
- Administer agile tools for tracking and collaboration for the teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Scrum Master for multiple software development teams in an agile environment is required.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in Technology Delivery (software) is preferred.
- At least seven (7) years of Agile experience utilizing Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe methodologies is preferred.
- At least three (3) years of people management experience is preferred.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification is required; Advanced CSM is preferred.
- SAFe 5.1 SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) Certification is preferred.
- ICAgile Certified Professional, Agile Coaching is preferred.

- Industry-recognized Certified Agile Coach (CAC) and Scrum Master certification.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to a Director or above.
Working Conditions
The work environment will primarily be an air-conditioned office setting requiring the employee to sit for prolonged periods while concentrating on a computer screen.
