Full Job Description
Role Overview
NETGEAR is seeking a Windows Desktop Agent Developer to build the next-generation security platform client for our SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) solutions.
In this role, you will design and develop secure, performant, and user-friendly applications that enable access to critical cybersecurity features including Secure VPN, ZTNA, and advanced network security capabilities. You will work closely with backend engineers, product managers, UX/UI designers, and QA teams to ensure the application meets high standards for usability, performance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure desktop applications for Windows as part of NETGEAR's security platform using C# and .NET frameworks like WPF or WinForms.
- Implement networking features such as VPN connectivity, secure tunneling (IPSec/WireGuard), and ZTNA access utilizing native Windows capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, implement desktop UI/UX, and integrate security services seamlessly into the user experience.
- Ensure applications adhere to strict security best practices, including proper handling of sensitive data via DPAPI/Credential Manager, code signing (WiX Toolset), sandboxing, and compliance with Windows guidelines for secure installation.
- Write clean, modular, testable C# code; implement unit and integration tests using xUnit or NUnit; and contribute to CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Participate in rigorous code reviews, support junior developers, and uphold strong engineering standards within an agile environment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–6 years developing Windows desktop applications using C#, .NET (WPF/WinForms), and Win32 APIs. Experience with PowerShell scripting is mandatory for automation tasks.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Windows networking APIs, system-level frameworks like WFP (Windows Filtering Platform), and WinINet. Strong experience integrating certificate-based authentication, biometrics (Windows Hello), and OS-level security controls.
- Networking: Proven hands-on experience with VPN protocols (WireGuard/IPSec) to implement secure endpoint network clients.
Deployment & Packaging
Familiarity and practical application of Windows packaging tools including WiX Toolset, MSI/MSIX installers, ClickOnce, and MSBuild for enterprise deployment solutions like Microsoft Intune.
