Sanctions Developer - Barclays, Pune
Join Barclays in Pune as a Sanctions Developer and play a pivotal role in creating and enhancing applications that support Financial Crime Screening. This hands-on engineering role focuses on building resilient microservices, implementing automation, and optimizing performance. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Domain SMEs, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and regulatory-compliant screening capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and improve software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities.
- Deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and performance-optimized.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration.
- Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, contributing to the organization's technology communities.
- Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
- Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure code design, readability, and reliability.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in Java and its related frameworks, Spring Boot, Microservices, and back-end technologies.
- Experience designing and building dynamic, data-driven applications using modern frameworks, server integrations, and database connectivity.
- Strong background in back-end development with Java, REST APIs, Microservices, and integration components.
- Working knowledge of DevOps tooling, pipelines, test-first practices, and Agile delivery.
- Experience applying secure coding standards, test-driven approaches, and robust design patterns for reliability and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, server configuration, and data modeling for full-stack applications.
- Effective stakeholder management with global leads and delivery teams.
Highly Valued Skills:
- Experience in the Banking/Finance domain.
- Experience with any flavor of Java.
- Experience with Client-Server based applications.
- Experience developing effective and interactive Front-end UIs using React JS or Angular.
- Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems.
- Experience working with AI/LLM models.
