Renewable Energy Systems Engineer

About the Role

The Renewable Energy Systems Engineer will support WSP's renewable energy systems engineering capability across utility-scale solar, wind, BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), and hybrid renewable energy projects. This role is responsible for delivery excellence across the full project lifecycle — from early development through commissioning and operations.

Responsibilities

• Design and model solar PV systems, Wind and BESS for utility-scale, commercial, and microgrid applications using PVsyst, PVcase, and AutoCAD.
• Perform layout optimization, shading analysis, energy yield simulations, and loss assessments.
• Use NREL's SAM or other bankable software for financial modeling, performance forecasting, and system cost-benefit analysis.
• Conduct site assessments, review topographical data, and analyze meteorological datasets (e.g., TMY, DNI, GHI).
• Develop and maintain bill of materials (BOM), schematics, and as-built drawings.
• Coordinate with interconnection, civil, and structural teams to ensure complete system integration.
• Support permitting, interconnection applications, and technical documentation for proposals and contracts.
