Full Job Description
Turing is seeking a highly experienced **Remote Software Engineer – Rust** to contribute to groundbreaking projects evaluating and training large language models (LLMs) for realistic software engineering tasks. This role involves hands-on work in building verifiable SWE tasks using public GitHub repositories, expanding dataset coverage across programming languages and difficulty levels. Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing and triaging GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries.
- Setting up and configuring code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup.
- Evaluating unit test coverage and code quality.
- Modifying and running codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing scenarios.
- Collaborating with researchers to identify challenging repositories and issues for LLMs.
- Potential leadership opportunities to mentor junior engineers.
**Required Skills:**
- Minimum 3+ years of overall software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Rust (or another relevant language).
- Advanced experience with Git, Docker, and basic software pipelines.
- Ability to navigate complex codebases and evaluate real-world projects.
- Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects.
**Nice-to-Have:**
- Previous involvement in LLM research or evaluation projects.
- Experience building or testing developer tools or automation agents.
This is a **contract** role with a 3-month duration, requiring at least **4 hours/day (20–40 hrs/week)** with overlap of 4 hours with PST. The role is fully remote, offering exposure to cutting-edge AI projects with leading companies.
