Full Job Description
Keysight Technologies, Inc. in Kolkata, West Bengal, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to shape the technical direction of products for testing ultra-high speed networks and AI Data Centres. This role is pivotal in steering the team towards innovative solutions and ensuring products remain at the forefront of technological advancements. The Principal Software Engineer will act as a technical champion and a consultant to senior management, involved in all aspects of product development, including architecture, design, development, testing, and customer support.
Responsibilities
- Architectural Expertise: Lead the definition and evaluation of new and existing product architectures, assessing the customer and business impacts of design and technical decisions.
- Software Development and Problem Solving: Demonstrate strong software development and debugging skills, solving complex problems using expertise in algorithms and data structures, and working with large codebases.
- Automation and Modern Software Development Workflow: Automate tasks using scripting languages like shell script, Perl, or Python. Proficient in Agile, Test Driven Development, API-first approach, and DevOps workflows.
- Communication and Collaboration: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, an open mind, and a readiness to learn. Work effectively individually and in a team with minimal guidance. Build strong customer engagements at senior technical levels.
- Continuous Learning: Show a keen interest in technology, communicate effectively with technologists across the company in emerging areas, and learn new technology skills on the fly.
- Emerging Technologies and Industry Trends Leadership: Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and leverage them to drive innovation and efficiency within the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; MS in a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in product development covering the complete product development cycle.
- Strong software development skills, proficient in C/C++/ Python programming and debugging in a Linux environment.
- Understanding of Kubernetes, Containers, and Cloud environments is expected.
- Networking Expertise: Strong programming and domain knowledge in high-performance network and socket programming, with protocol knowledge across the L2-L7 stack (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, QUIC, Routing, switching protocols) is preferred.
