R&D Engineer 5

Keysight Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our R&D team in Kolkata, West Bengal. This role is pivotal in shaping the technical direction of products designed for testing ultra-high speed networks and AI Data Centres. You will be a technical champion, guiding the team towards innovative solutions and acting as a consultant to senior management.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the definition and evaluation of product architecture, assessing the impact of technical decisions.
• Demonstrating strong software development and debugging skills, utilizing expertise in algorithms, data structures, and large codebases.
• Automating tasks with scripting languages (shell script, Perl, Python) and embracing Agile, Test Driven Development, API-first approach, and DevOps workflows.
• Communicating and collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders, demonstrating flexibility and a readiness to learn.
• Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; MS preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in product development covering the complete product lifecycle.
• Proficiency in C/C++/Python programming and debugging in a Linux environment.
• Understanding of Kubernetes, Containers, and Cloud environments.
• Strong programming and domain knowledge in high-performance network and socket programming, with expertise in L2-L7 protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, QUIC, Routing, switching).
