Full Job Description
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Observability Engineer to design, build, and continuously improve monitoring and observability solutions for our enterprise environment. This role focuses primarily on on-premises systems including physical servers, virtualized infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM), Kubernetes clusters, along with the underlying infrastructure layers. Some cloud use cases are also in scope.
The goal is to provide system owners and business stakeholders with an accurate, actionable view of system health and uptime while helping shape the application of agentic AI for intelligent triage, correlation, and assisted remediation.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Architecture & Design:** Define layered monitoring strategies covering hardware to applications. Set standards for metrics, logs, alerts, dashboards, SLIs/SLOs. Architect tool roles, data flows, retention, scalability, and high availability across the observability stack.
- Security: Secure platforms through access controls, encryption, and compliance with enterprise security standards via hardening and audits.
- **Implementation:** Build monitoring using Zabbix (templates, discovery, triggers). Design Splunk pipelines for log collection, parsing, enrichment, routing. Contribute to Prometheus/Grafana metrics and visualizations. Automate configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
- **Agentic AI Integration:** Implement AI agents for alert triage, deduplication, root cause analysis, incident summarization, and remediation workflows. Integrate LLM-based agents via APIs/MCP with defined guardrails.
- Collaboration: Partner with system owners to translate architecture into meaningful monitoring and mentor teams on knowledge sharing.
- **Continuous Improvement:** Tune alert quality, reduce noise using post-mortems, and evolve the observability toolset based on technological landscape shifts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Engineering preferred.
- 5+ years in infrastructure operations with at least 3 years focused specifically on monitoring and observability, primarily in enterprise environments.
- Hands-on production experience with Zabbix and Splunk (log pipelines).
- Strong knowledge of compute, OS (Linux/Windows), networking, storage dependencies.
- Solid scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell; comfort working with REST APIs.
- Demonstrated practical application of agentic AI (LLMs) to operations and incident management.
**Nice to Have:**
- Experience with Prometheus ecosystem and Grafana dashboarding.
- Familiarity with cloud workloads (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Software development experience for building integrations or exporters.
