Quality Lab Technician - Shannon, MS
GRAMMER Americas, a premier North American automotive supplier specializing in car interior components and systems, is seeking a dedicated Quality Lab Technician for our Shannon, Mississippi facility. This role is crucial for coordinating measurement and testing activities, ensuring strict adherence to industry standards, and driving quality assurance to achieve exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive measurements and testing for all Grammer Industries products.
- Develop and edit Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs effectively.
- Generate precise dimensional reports tailored to customer specifications.
- Perform CMM dimensional verification of fixtures according to the annual program.
- Execute weekly CMM validation of finished goods as per customer requirements.
- Validate component dimensions for both new projects and series production.
- Provide technical support for dimensional issue resolution in production areas.
- Assist in managing the calibration management system.
- Oversee and administer calibration reports, statistical studies, and other data for all company measurement devices.
- Properly use and maintain equipment and master standards to ensure their longevity.
- Coordinate training with quality and production departments on the use and care of measurement equipment.
- Support statistical studies (MSA) for key equipment.
- Interpret and review technical prints for measurement and functional application.
- Conduct reverse engineering for products in development, where applicable.
- Adhere to all ISO guidelines to support 17025 accreditations.
- Develop and implement systems including Inspection Request, Gauge Calibration, Document and Data Retention, and Environmental control of the laboratory.
- Provide expert consulting to engineering and the supplier base regarding the causes and effects of measurement conformity and non-conformity.
- Assist the supplier base in implementing proper measurement and testing techniques.
- Create essential documentation for the implementation of Quality Systems.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, the Quality Management System, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–5 years of experience in metrology, calibration, or a quality assurance environment.
- Solid understanding of measurement principles, calibration standards, and traceability requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Basic math skills (algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric functions).
- Ability to read and interpret prints, data, and metrics.
- Skilled in managing multiple metrology tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively, autonomously, and with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionally to achieve role objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, or other relevant quality standards is a plus.
