Full Job Description
Seeking a Vice President of Python QA Automation Engineering within Software Engineering to lead the vision, architecture, and execution of robust Python-based API test automation frameworks across enterprise platforms. This role requires deep technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a proven track record in delivering scalable, high-quality automation solutions aligned with modern software development and DevOps best practices. Responsibilities include owning the strategy, design, and delivery of enterprise-grade API automation frameworks for RESTful and SOAP services, providing technical leadership to global QA and engineering teams, and mentoring automation developers. The position oversees the architecture and implementation of scalable, high-performing, and maintainable test solutions using Python, SQL, and cloud-native technologies. This role drives automation-first quality strategies to enable faster, reliable, and secure software delivery via CI/CD pipelines. Collaboration with Product, Development, DevOps, and Data Engineering teams is essential to align quality goals with business priorities. Continuous improvement of API test coverage, performance benchmarks, and defect resolution processes is expected. Innovation in automation is encouraged, including the evaluation of emerging technologies like AI/ML-driven testing, synthetic monitoring, and data visualization tools such as Power BI. The role involves representing QA Automation in executive forums and contributing to enterprise architecture and engineering strategy. The ideal candidate possesses 10+ years of experience in software engineering and test automation, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or VP-level role. Expert proficiency in Python, API test frameworks (Pytest, Requests), and working knowledge of data platforms (DB2, GreenPlum) are required. Proven experience implementing robust CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Docker) in Agile/DevOps environments is necessary. Strong experience with REST/SOAP API testing, JSON/XML parsing, schema validation, and request/response debugging is expected. Familiarity with secure API authentication (OAuth, JWT) and API documentation standards (Swagger/OpenAPI) is important. Hands-on experience in distributed systems, microservices architecture, message queues, and event-driven APIs is beneficial. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets, influence stakeholders, and deliver strategic outcomes is critical.
