Python Developer - Software Engineer - Parametric
About the Role
Morgan Stanley is seeking a skilled Python Developer to join their team in Mumbai, India. This role involves building sophisticated financial software designed to tackle complex global financial challenges. You will be instrumental in developing solutions for customized direct index exposure, focusing on tax-sensitive asset selection to optimize after-tax portfolio returns. The role also encompasses designing and building financial software for the entire account lifecycle, from onboarding to managing client activities, investment instructions, and equity investment accounts at scale.
Key Responsibilities and Skillset
- Develop and maintain financial software solutions.
- Design and build systems for account lifecycle management.
- Implement solutions for direct index exposure and tax-efficient investing.
- Collaborate on building robust financial software at scale.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Data Analysis, Software Development, Big Data, Python, SQL, JavaScript, REST, Docker, OAuth.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field (4-year degree required).
- Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of software development experience as an individual contributor.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Data Analyst.
- Proven experience developing big data transformation datasets from multiple organized and unorganized internal and external data sources, preferably using Alteryx.
- Experience building reusable data transformation pipelines using Alteryx or Python.
- Hands-on experience in data enrichment using Python.
- Experience developing complex and efficient Tableau dashboards with minimal load times.
- Understanding of the big data ecosystem is essential.
- Methodology & Technology: Python, Alteryx, Tableau/Power BI, ETL, Kafka, JavaScript, RESTful APIs, and web service integration.
- Preferred Skills:
- Cloud-native development experience (AWS preferred).
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
- Web development experience.
- Financial industry experience, particularly within top-tier financial GCCs.
- Front-office operations experience is strongly preferred.
- Soft Skills: Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technological implementations, logical approach, ability to challenge Business As Usual (BAU), quick learner, helpful, dependable, and innovative.
