Full Job Description

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including Domain Leads (Operations, IT, Data), to understand business needs and define the vision and roadmap for data-driven initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Contribute to the development of the program vision and communicate the product and portfolio vision effectively to the team.
  • Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and designers to ensure efficient product development that meets user needs and delivers actionable insights.
  • Analyze data sources, data technologies, and vendors to inform the data product roadmap development, creating necessary ER diagrams, data models, and PRD/BRDs to articulate requirements.
  • Be accountable for developing and achieving product-level Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for data products with moderate strategy, scope, and complexity.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security by establishing data governance frameworks, defining data quality standards, and implementing data management best practices for high data integrity.
  • Collaborate with technology and business leadership to align system and application integrations with business goals and priorities, resolving open issues and questions promptly.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring its contents are prioritized and that user stories are clear and actionable.
  • Set priorities and actively participate in squad/team quarterly planning, collaborating with senior Product Owners on program quarterly planning priorities.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations regarding the delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities, participating in team demos, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Engage daily with the Agile working group, clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, maintaining constant communication, and fostering alignment around product strategy.
  • Monitor and maintain product health to support long-term product viability and efficiency, balancing short-term and long-term costs with desired outcomes.
  • Analyze and report on the feasibility, cost of delay ramifications, economies, and other aspects of planned or potential product changes.
  • Understand and incorporate regulatory, compliance, and other industry constraints into product prioritization and negotiate with internal and external teams to align priorities across squads and teams.

Candidate Profile:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Have considerable relevant industry or functional experience, particularly within the insurance sector.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of data technologies, including databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
  • Show proven experience of 4+ years as a Data Product Owner, Data Product Manager, or in a similar role within data, software development, or the technology industry.
  • Be familiar with programming languages like Python, R, SQL, or SAS, and cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure, enabling effective collaboration with data scientists and developers.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, with experience working in Agile environments.
  • Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands effectively.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Exhibit strong presentation and leadership skills.
  • Have experience with product management tools like JIRA, Trello, or Asana, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with UX/UI design principles, the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and software engineering concepts is a plus.
  • Possess Agile practitioner capabilities and experience working with or in Agile teams.
  • Show strong team-work, coordination, organization, and planning skills.
  • Be able to capture complex requirements in a prioritized backlog.
