Job Purpose

The Principal Tech Engineer – Site Serialisation Systems provides technical leadership for site serialisation systems within PIMMS (the Manufacturing Track & Trace product). The role leads solution design, validation, implementation and troubleshooting to ensure outputs align with approved architecture and GxP requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Own Technical Quality: Manage specifications, design documentation, configuration records and technical validation evidence for the assigned scope.
• Troubleshooting & Root-Cause Analysis: Investigate complex failures across manufacturing batches, product quality, patient supply or data integrity with timely escalation where required.
• Technical Implementation: Design or configure interfaces, workflows, recipes, data models and environments for site serialisation system integrations. Maintain configurations under version control subject to peer review and verified through automated tests.
• Reliability & Monitoring: Own technical reliability including monitoring, recoverability and obsolescence management to address root causes rather than closing individual tickets.
• Codification of Knowledge: Extract serialisation knowledge into runbooks, integration patterns and troubleshooting guides to build capability across engineering teams.
• Leadership & Design Review: Lead technical design implementation across multiple projects/sites. Approve specifications, designs and validation evidence from external vendors and partners against GSK standards.
• Risk Assessment: Assess risks regarding security, compliance, resilience and data integrity; ensure mitigation is effective.
• GxP & Validation Support: Maintain technical standards for audits/inspections. Ensure corrective actions are evidence-based.
• Automation & AI Adoption: Identify repetitive activities suitable for automation to reduce manual effort. Apply AI-assisted methods within Responsible AI and GxP controls, retaining human accountability.
• Vendor Management: Coordinate external vendors/integrators; set technical direction and acceptance criteria; hold partners accountable to GSK engineering standards.

Key Relationships

You will work with Business & Site Stakeholders (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain), Engineers, Automation Teams, Digital & Technology Stakeholders, Product Owners, Architects, DevOps/Integration teams and Cyber Security. Collaboration also extends to Solution vendors such as SEA Vision and Systech.
