About the Role

Join ServiceTitan as a Principal Software Engineer on DevEx, our newly formed lean team building AI-enabled platform infrastructure. You will pioneer cutting-edge development tools and coding agent runtimes (like Codex) to help engineering teams operate at 'AI speed.'

You'll Build: AI-Native Tooling

• Agent orchestration layers, harnesses, and LLM reasoning loops.
• The full DevEx platform surface including environments, build systems, CI/CD, developer portals, guardrails, and compliance measures (Velocity Harness).

Your architectural decisions will set the pattern for how ServiceTitan builds with coding agents across the organization.

You'll Do

• Domain Expertise & Influence: Proactively identify opportunities to apply your expertise in agent-runtime architecture beyond DevEx, influencing teams across R&D and contributing to industry standards.
• Delivery: Lead autonomous delivery of comprehensive system designs and projects that remove barriers felt widely across the engineering organization.
• Independence & Decision Making: Operate self-directed with minimal oversight. Act as a key technical consultant where your judgment on hard calls is relied upon by multiple teams.
• Complex System Understanding: Anticipate technical problems before they surface and drive milestones for AI-native developer tooling over the next 1–3 years.
• Mentorship: Lead by example with high-quality harness code and orchestration patterns. Mentor engineers at Staff level and below to raise the team's technical bar.

You'll Bring

• 15-20+ years of software engineering experience, including recent (last 6–12 months) hands-on work building coding-agent-runtime infrastructure such as agent orchestration or LLM reasoning loops. This is a hard filter.
• A track record consistent with Principal-level scope: technical decisions and architecture that other teams build upon.
• Deep experience with build systems, CI/CD, or internal developer platforms shipped at real scale in production.
• The ability to set direction comfortably without oversight; you define the plan rather than receive it.
• Strong instincts for environment safety (RBAC, secrets management) specifically applied to autonomous coding agents.
