As a Principal Software Engineer, you will apply robust software engineering practices, including implementation and validation, to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve Fidelity's customer-facing software solutions. You will also mentor your team in adopting best practices to ensure the development of the right product, built correctly. Value You Deliver

• Actively participate in the development process by writing and maintaining application features and automated tests, including unit, component, integration, and functional tests.
• Collaborate with team members to enhance the team's test coverage, release velocity, and production health.
• Own entire features from conception to deployment, engaging in cross-functional activities.
• Leverage your experience and knowledge to influence better software design, advocate for proper software engineering and bug prevention strategies, testability, and security.
• Provide proactive consulting during the definition phase regarding non-functional requirements and their financial implications. Offer technology alternatives for business problems, clearly outlining the advantages, challenges, and side effects of each option.
• Ensure the operability of the technical architecture by partnering with Enterprise Architects and project teams, taking ownership of technical design decisions.
• Manage technology obsolescence within the product, aligning with enterprise directives.
• Identify opportunities to introduce emerging technologies and solutions to deliver innovative approaches that meet business objectives.

Key Skills for This Role

Technical

• Extensive experience in Java, JavaScript, and frameworks like Spring Core/MVC.
• Proficiency with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Spring Test.
• Experience with tools like Swagger, Git, Jenkins, uDeploy, and Docker.
• Deep knowledge of Azure/AWS offerings and extensive experience with cloud-based solutions design and architecture.
• Proven experience in designing Microservices and performance tuning of services.
• Understanding and application of fundamental design principles for scalable, low-latency, high-throughput distributed applications.
• Familiarity with various design and architectural patterns and their practical application.
• Champion of best practices in engineering excellence, including CI/CD, design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, and test automation across the technology stack.
• Hands-on experience with Angular, Oracle, Serverless, SOA, and data integration tools.

Good to Have Skills for This Role

• Exposure to Mainframe/C++ or other legacy technology re-platforming projects is desirable.

• Effective influencing and communication skills to lead a high-performing technology team.
• Comfort working with cross-functional team members and promoting the concept of full-stack engineers.
• Demonstrated ability to lead from the front, motivate, and empower your team to achieve optimal delivery.
• Exposure to emerging technologies such as Blockchain, AI/ML, Data Analytics/Visualization, and Speech Recognition will be advantageous.

• Location: Bangalore – Manyata / Chennai
• Shift timings: 11 am – 8 pm IST. Working hours will be flexible to ensure adequate overlap with US-based squads and other stakeholders.
