Principal Software Engineer

About This Role

Your Impact: The Principal Software Engineer will shape and evolve our architecture using Distributed Domain Driven Design practices, ensuring robustness and scalability while influencing architectural directions for key systems.

What You'll Do:

• Architecture Leadership: Drive the definition of distributed architectures focusing on Availability, Performance, Scalability, and Securibility. Act as a strategy leader providing project-embedded consultation to promote best practices and informed decisions on build vs. buy.
• Platform Capability Enhancement: Prioritize platform improvements across feature and data platforms. Automate architecture descriptions and shepherd strategies including naming standards and protocol definitions.
• Effective Communication: Clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, building consensus on architectural decisions among stakeholders.

Who You Are (Required):

• 15+ years of relevant experience in high-volume distributed architectures where reliability is paramount.
• Experience with Big Data technologies: ElasticSearch, NoSQL Stores, Kafka, Columnar Databases, Graph DataStores, and Pipeline Systems.
• Familiarity with Enterprise Message Buses, Toggle management systems, and Observability (Logging/Distributed Tracing).
• Mastery of Domain Driven Design concepts including bounded contexts and event storming.
• Ability to design encapsulated microservices using Service Oriented Architecture patterns.
• Proficiency in CI/CD with automation tools like Terraform, Jenkins, or CodePipeline.
• In-depth knowledge of API/Data Model scaling within Cloud Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Experience designing and operating multi-tenant systems.
• Skill in using feature/release toggles as a code branching strategy.
