Principal Software Engineer

Join the Azure Core team in India as a Principal Software Engineer to drive advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure. We are building and managing cutting-edge Azure infrastructure to support diverse AI workloads, including training, inferencing, fine-tuning, and big data scenarios. Your role will involve designing and delivering comprehensive software solutions and architectural strategies, leveraging high-performance computing and networking technologies, with a strong emphasis on open-source technologies. Areas of focus include AI lifecycle foundation tools, big data frameworks, confidential computing, and full-stack Azure services across management, control, and data planes.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance infrastructure for AI workloads, ensuring efficient resource utilization and low-latency communications.
• Provide technical leadership in cloud infrastructure technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and best practices in infrastructure design, execution, and optimization.
• Continuously assess and refine performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in compute, storage, and networking domains.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their applicability and recommending adoption for AI infrastructure enhancements.
• Engage with customers and collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to clarify requirements, provide expert guidance, and communicate complex concepts effectively.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience, including coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience, including coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 12+ years of technical engineering experience, including coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, OR equivalent experience.
