Principal Engineer

Role Overview

Arcadis GEC (India) is seeking a Principal Wastewater Modeller. In this leadership role, you will lead the development of wastewater models, manage key project aspects, and collaborate with UK modelling teams and clients to expand our global portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to mentor others while taking charge of team building and technical support for water utilities across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Diverse Project Delivery: Lead wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure modelling projects at various scales, from concept outline to detailed design stages.
• Technical Excellence: Conduct technical reviews of models, oversee model build/verification for sewer networks, survey planning, and resolve complex technical challenges. Develop strategic solutions tailored to client requirements.
• Quality Assurance: Review and enhance technical reports, presentations, drawings, specifications, and studies to uphold high standards.
• Client Engagement: Collaborate closely with clients (water utilities) providing clear explanations of model outputs. Ensure deliverables align with client expectations.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Support junior team members in their professional development, fostering a collaborative environment and guiding them to reach full potential.
• Commercial Support: Assist with bid preparation including narratives, cost estimates, and programmes. Coordinate resource allocation, subcontractors, and client feedback.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside engineering and environmental specialists to ensure project integrity across disciplines.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: 11-14 years in the industry with a Masters degree in Water Resources Management, Environment, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Technical Skills: Advanced expertise in hydraulic modelling for wastewater projects. Proficient in InfoWorks ICM HADES and relevant GIS software.
• Certifications: Chartered member of a professional institution (e.g., ICE or CIWEM) is preferred, along with proven experience in model QA procedures.
• Soft Skills: Strong report-writing abilities, spreadsheet-based data analysis skills, and coding/automation knowledge are desirable. Excellent stakeholder coordination capabilities required.
