About the Role
As a Principal Front-end Engineer at Sage, you will provide technical leadership in designing, developing, and delivering a high-quality SaaS solution that exceeds customer and business partner expectations. We are looking for someone with over 10 years of professional experience in frontend engineering to bring technical depth, architectural vision, and leadership maturity to the team.
Location:Bangalore, India (Hybrid: 3 days per week).
Core Languages & Frameworks:Strong TypeScript (strict) and modern JavaScript (ES Modules), Deep React experience including hooks, composition, performance optimization, HTML5/CSS3 for responsive/accessible UI.
Build & Tooling:Modern build tooling like Vite/Webpack/Rollup with bundle optimization, Git workflows, monorepo experience (Nx preferred), and CI discipline using linters/formatters.
State & Data:Redux Toolkit, XState state machines, TanStack Query, RxJS/reactive streams, REST APIs consumption with JWT/OAuth2 auth handling.
Styling & Design Systems:Tailwind CSS, MUI, styled-components/Emotion, and design-token systems for brand consistency.
Data Grids & Performance:Complex data grids (ag-Grid Enterprise preferred), frontend performance profiling, optimization techniques, Web Workers usage.
Accessibility & i18n:WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA compliance with ARIA/focus management, internationalization best practices.
Testing & Quality:Unit/component testing with Vitest/Jest + Testing Library, E2E tests using Playwright, secure coding against OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.
AI ToolingLeveraging AI-assisted developer tools (Copilot/Cursor), building generative-AI UX features like in-app copilots and natural-language querying, integrating LLM APIs with streaming rendering capabilities.
Nice to Have:Web Crypto encryption knowledge, rich-text editors (Lexical/ProseMirror/Slate), graph modeling libraries, CRDTs for real-time collaboration, Storybook experience, performance budget management in CI, domain expertise in finance/ERP/FPA/budgeting applications.
