Principal Engineer

HBK is seeking a Principal Engineer in Chennai for a Work From Home position. This role drives the complete product lifecycle, blending hands-on full-stack development with technical strategy, scalable system design, data modeling, and roadmap delivery. You will align engineering execution with business priorities, actively developing with Java, Angular, and modern cloud-native environments, while mentoring a high-performing team.

Key responsibilities include:

Core Development and Technology: Lead full-stack architecture, design, development, and deployment of enterprise applications using Angular and Java Spring Boot, embracing new technologies as needed. Drive innovation and efficiency with modern, cloud-native technologies. Execute end-to-end product development in a SAFe Agile framework, emphasizing rapid value delivery through pair programming, PR reviews, TDD, and CI/CD. Ensure seamless integration of HBK Design Systems for consistent UX/UI. Build quality into software products via comprehensive testing and adherence to DevOps and TDD principles. Provide technical guidance for solution development and integration, ensuring alignment with strategies, standards, and security practices. Contribute to roadmaps and identify improvement opportunities.

Product and Roadmap Leadership: Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to evolve the product's technology roadmap, ensuring scalability and innovation. Contribute to technical product ownership, influencing strategic discussions and feature prioritization. Balance tech debt and innovation while delivering business value.

Technical Product Leadership and Mentorship: Act as a technical product leader, guiding the engineering team on architecture, design, and delivery best practices. Provide deep technical mentorship and expertise for complex challenges. Translate product vision into technical execution plans, working with product owners and designers to ensure feasibility, scalability, and performance. Champion engineering excellence through modern coding standards, architectural best practices, and fostering a learning culture via code reviews and knowledge sharing. Support the onboarding of new engineers into the codebase, architecture, and tooling.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Product Alignment: Manage stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively to align technology solutions with business goals. Influence the product roadmap with technical insights on feasibility, performance, scalability, and maintenance. Clearly communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks to all stakeholders. Bridge business goals and engineering execution for consistent customer value delivery.

Requirements: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. Minimum 7 years of experience in designing, developing, and scaling enterprise-grade full-stack applications. Strong full-stack expertise including Frontend: Angular, TypeScript, modern UI/UX, design systems; Backend: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices. Proven experience in technical architecture, solution design, and system integration for scalable platforms. Demonstrated ability to translate product goals into technical solutions and contribute to roadmaps. Experience in Agile/SAFe environments with TDD, CI/CD, DevOps, and automated testing. Ability to mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and guide teams through complex challenges. Excellent communication skills for articulating technical concepts and influencing decision-making.
