Principal Data Engineer

As a key member of the consulting team at Aays Analytics in Bangalore, India, you will help clients reinvent their corporate finance function by leveraging advanced analytics. You will work directly with senior stakeholders to design and implement data strategies for controllership, FP&A, and GPO use cases.

• Design and drive end-to-end data and analytics solution architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Azure from concept to delivery.
• Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for advanced analytics and ML-driven solutions using GCP/Azure services like BigQuery and Dataflow.
• Ensure integration of industry-accepted data architecture principles with coordinated roll-out strategies.
• Sizing, provisioning, and setup of GCP and Azure environments including Cloud Storage and Looker.
• Mentor engineering, analytics, and business teams on GCP/Azure-based data architecture.
• Review solution requirements for technology selection and efficient resource utilization across systems.
• Advise on emerging trends in GCP and Azure to maintain a competitive edge.
• Participate in pre-sales engagements, PoCs, and publish thought leadership content.
• Collaborate with founders and leadership to shape the organization's cloud and data strategy.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience delivering multiple solutions on GCP and Azure (BigQuery, Cloud Storage).
• Hands-on expertise with tools like Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, and Data Fusion.
• Familiarity with Data Mesh, Data Fabric, Data Products, Contracts, and implementation strategies.
• Strong understanding of relational, star, snowflake, Data Vault models for transactional, time-series, and unstructured data.
• Experience in enterprise data management: quality, metadata governance, observability (GCP/Azure-native or third-party).
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture using Google Pub/Sub or Kafka is an advantage.
• Familiarity with AI/GenAI concepts and Vertex AI.
• Solid grasp of cloud operational dependencies including IAM, VPCs, VPNs, GKE, service accounts, security rules.
• Foundation in computer science/software engineering; expertise in Dev/Data Ops and CI/CD methodologies.
• Practical experience with Terraform, Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, Python scripting, Bash.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and cloud-native application development.
• Demonstrated hands-on coding ability in Python, SQL, Spark; flexibility to learn new technologies quickly.
