Full Job Description
Recex.co is seeking a Performance Engineer specializing in Solar energy to join our Technical Asset Management team in Kolkata, India. This pivotal role, reporting to the Sr. Director of Technical Asset Management, focuses on the in-depth analysis and modeling of power plant performance. You will be instrumental in deriving data-driven insights to optimize efficiency and support critical strategic decisions across our expanding portfolio of renewable energy projects. This involves close collaboration with engineers, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams, and various stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and perform comprehensive analysis on extensive datasets related to power plant performance and modeling.
- Develop and implement predictive models for performance forecasting, proactive troubleshooting of photovoltaic (PV) systems, and formulation of corrective actions.
- Utilize industry-standard PV modeling tools such as PVsyst, PVlib Python, and NREL SAM for detailed performance analysis.
- Accurately calculate plant and equipment losses, including but not limited to soiling, tracker, temperature, clipping, inverter efficiency, and wiring losses.
- Compute key performance indicators (KPIs) like availability, performance ratio, and energy performance index using established algorithms.
- Support the automation of reporting and analysis processes in partnership with data science and software development teams.
- Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency and drive cost reductions.
- Effectively translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Basic Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Computer/Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics, coupled with 2-5 years of experience in performance engineering, PV modeling (specifically PVsyst), and data analytics.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of PV system modeling (PVsyst, PVLib) and SCADA performance assessment techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python/R, SQL, advanced Excel (including VBA), and Business Intelligence (BI) tools like PowerBI, Tableau, Plotly, Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.
- Experience in project management, data mining, and AC/DC power system analysis.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
