Wati is seeking a People Operations Lead with strong HR Operations expertise and a keen interest in Artificial Intelligence. This pivotal role involves comprehensive ownership of core people processes, including onboarding, offboarding, HRIS management, HR reporting, and ESOP administration. The ideal candidate will not only maintain but actively innovate these processes, leveraging AI and advanced systems to enhance speed, accuracy, and efficiency, thereby minimizing manual effort. This position is crucial for shaping the employee experience from initial engagement to departure and supporting leadership with essential people data for strategic decision-making within a global, hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Onboarding & Offboarding: Oversee the complete onboarding and offboarding journey for a global, hybrid, and remote workforce, managing everything from initial setup and access provisioning to exit procedures. Collaborate with the Talent team to ensure all pre-onboarding documentation is complete and accurate. Continuously refine these processes to provide a high-touch employee experience with minimal manual intervention.
- HRIS & Systems Management: Act as the primary business owner for the HRIS, responsible for its configuration, workflow optimization, data integrity, user permissions, and overall system health. Manage the vendor relationship with the HRIS provider, including roadmap discussions, escalations, contract negotiations, and feature adoption. Drive integrations between the HRIS and other essential tools (e.g., Slack, Claude AI, ATS) to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Ensure the HRIS serves as the definitive source of truth for all people data, maintaining audit-ready records and robust access controls.
- HR Metrics & Reporting: Generate monthly payroll variance reports, providing detailed commentary on changes and their underlying reasons. Oversee quarterly ESOP reporting to management, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and actionable insights for leadership.
- Process Optimization & AI Integration: Conduct thorough audits of existing People Ops workflows to identify opportunities for AI tooling, automation, or improved system design to eliminate manual tasks. Develop prompt libraries, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and lightweight internal tools to be adopted by the broader People team.
- Special Projects: Provide support for ad hoc projects, including compensation and benefits analysis, market benchmarking, headcount planning, and organization-wide people initiatives, adapting to shifting priorities.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in HR Operations, People Operations, or a closely related field, with demonstrable hands-on experience in managing onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Proficiency as an HRIS administrator, including experience with workflow configuration, data management, report generation, and vendor relationship management (e.g., BambooHR, HiBob, Workday, Rippling, Darwinbox, Keka, or similar).
- Comfort and experience working with people data, including payroll variances, headcount, ESOPs, and attrition metrics. Ability to extract, validate, and interpret this data.
- Demonstrated AI fluency, including active use of Large Language Models (LLMs) in daily work, skill in developing reliable prompts, and a clear understanding of AI's appropriate applications within HR.
- A strong process-oriented mindset, with an instinct for documenting, standardizing, and identifying automation opportunities.
- Excellent written communication skills, capable of crafting clear policies, concise SOPs, and professional offboarding communications.
- Prior experience supporting a globally distributed, hybrid, or remote workforce.
