Full Job Description
Mindrift is seeking a freelance Optical Engineer to join our AI training initiatives. This is a project-based role, distinct from permanent employment, focused on enhancing AI systems for top tech companies. Your primary responsibilities will involve designing and developing complex optics problems that simulate real-world physics research workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design original optics problems requiring significant computational power, making manual solutions impractical.
- Create problems that necessitate intricate reasoning chains across mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics.
- Base problem design on authentic research challenges and practical applications within optics and physics.
- Clearly document problem statements and provide verified correct solutions.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or a related scientific field.
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience, including applied, research, or teaching roles.
- Proficiency in numerical simulation methods.
- Demonstrated ability to design problems that accurately mirror physics research workflows.
- Creative problem-solving skills across various physics domains.
- Familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques.
- Strong written English communication skills (C1+ proficiency required).
Project Details:
- Project Type: Freelance, Project-Based
- Estimated Workload: Approximately 10-20 hours per week during active project phases.
- Compensation: Up to the equivalent of $10 per hour, varying by expertise and contribution pace. Compensation may differ for other projects on the platform.
