Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) is seeking a dynamic Analyst - Data Science to join its commercial Insights, Analytics, and Data organization in Pune. This role focuses on leveraging data, analytics, and insights to drive decision-making and tackle global health challenges.

You will collaborate with partners across various therapeutic areas (e.g., Oncology, Vaccines, Pharma & Rare Disease) and domain areas (HCP Analytics, Patient Analytics, Segmentation & Targeting, Market Access) to develop scalable, production-grade analytics solutions. These solutions will range from data visualization and reporting to advanced statistical and AI/ML models.

Specifically, you will work within one of the therapeutic areas of Brand Strategy and Performance Analytics (Oncology/Vaccines/Pharma & Rare Disease), utilizing your statistical and machine learning expertise to address critical business challenges and generate insights for key decisions. You will translate business queries into analytical problems, applying critical thinking, problem-solving, statistical, machine learning, and data visualization skills.

Ideal candidates possess prior experience in healthcare analytics or consulting, with hands-on experience in building end-to-end ML models. Familiarity with Physician and Patient-Level Data (PLD) from vendors like IQVIA, Komodo, and Optum, as well as concepts like persistence, compliance, line of therapy, segmentation, and targeting, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand business requirements and translate them into analytical problem statements with managerial support.
• Implement solutions using SQL/Python and appropriate ML techniques with minimal supervision.
• Adhere to technical requirements, business rules, technical architecture, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement business-aligned solutions.
• Present findings to US Data Science stakeholders clearly and concisely, incorporating feedback.
• Maintain a continuous learning mindset for both technical and functional aspects.
• Develop deep expertise in a specific therapeutic area, focusing on commercial aspects.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with at least 1-7 years of industry experience (experience may be waived for exceptional candidates).
• Proficiency in Python/R, SQL, and Excel.
• Strong foundations in statistics and machine learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in a STEM field (MS, MBA, PhD).
• 1-3 years of experience in healthcare analytics and consulting.
• Familiarity with Physician and Patient-Level data (claims, electronic health records) and data from common healthcare data vendors (IQVIA, Optum, Komodo, etc.).
• Experience in HCP & Patient Level Data analytics, including segmentation & targeting, patient cohorts, and knowledge of Lines of Therapy, Persistency, and Compliance.
• Proficiency in Data Science concepts, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and familiarity with Dataiku.
