Observability Expert

Nespresso's Digital and Tech Team is seeking an experienced Observability Expert to join their dynamic environment in Bengaluru, Karnataka. This is a permanent, hybrid, Band 2 position requiring fluent business English. As an Observability Architect, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust observability solutions for Nespresso's eCommerce ecosystem. Your role will involve leveraging monitoring, logging, and tracing tools to gather and analyze critical data, providing key insights into system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and troubleshooting issues. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance observability practices, ensuring the availability, reliability, and optimal performance of Nespresso's systems through strategic monitoring and alerting. A proactive approach and a keen interest in emerging technologies like OpenTelemetry are essential for driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain, operate, and enhance the monitoring infrastructure.
• Implement new monitoring capabilities for existing and new infrastructure and applications, including dashboards, alerts, and metrics.
• Ensure the stability of mission-critical systems by setting up alerts, notifications, and auto-remediation processes.
• Develop event-driven automation triggered by monitoring system events.
• Collaborate with an international, agile team utilizing modern toolsets.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in monitoring or observability.
• Experience in a DevOps/Scrum environment.
• Proficiency with RHEL or equivalent Linux systems.
• Strong understanding of observability and monitoring methodologies and best practices.
• Extensive experience with Prometheus and PromQL (Prometheus Certified Associate – PCA preferred).
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and Dynatrace for Application, Service, Infrastructure, and Data Quality Monitoring.
• Solid understanding and practical experience with Ansible and Terraform.
• Good knowledge of network concepts and protocols.
• Proficiency in setting up alerts and notifications.
• Good understanding of containers and hands-on experience with container and container orchestration technologies.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working in a global environment and with virtual teams.
• Solid experience with Ansible and Kubernetes.
• Experience with eCommerce platforms.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux and proficiency in shell scripting (Bash and Python).
