Network & System Engineer in Gurugram, India
Ratel Fintech is seeking a skilled Network and System Engineer to join their team in Gurugram, India. This role is crucial for optimizing and maintaining their high-performance, low-latency trading network across co-location trading setups and Linux-based trading systems. You will be instrumental in managing network configurations, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing automation to ensure peak performance and unwavering reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximize network performance through diligent monitoring, proactive troubleshooting of network problems and outages, strategic upgrade scheduling, and ongoing network optimization.
- Configure and install a variety of essential network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and QoS configurations.
- Provide direct, hands-on network support for critical production issues affecting trading environments, both in co-location facilities and within office and data center setups.
- Drive network automation initiatives, such as pushing and updating configurations across multiple infrastructure devices.
- Offer direct technical support for Linux systems and associated technologies within a live, production trading environment.
- Address and resolve networking issues specifically related to Linux servers in the production trading environment.
- Leverage knowledge of Multicast routing, PIM, and IGMP protocols for network efficiency.
- Set up and troubleshoot Linux-based servers, including managing hardware changes, software installations, and system upgrades.
- Develop automated systems for real-time reporting of issues within the live trading environment.
- Monitor and actively participate in the day-to-day operations of the trading teams.
- Build robust systems for the daily management of critical files, configurations, and for backing up essential data from production systems.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- An engineering degree in Computer Science is preferred, or a degree in any discipline combined with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification is considered a significant advantage.
- Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) will be beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to set up and configure trading server hardware effectively.
- Expertise with VPNs and Firewalls, specifically mentioning Cisco ASA and Palo Alto.
- Proven experience in Routing and Switching concepts, including VLANs, Inter-VLAN routing, VTP, STP, Ether channel, Layer 3 routing, Static routing, and Dynamic Routing Protocols.
- Proficiency in Linux operating systems and scripting languages like Shell and Python.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools, ideally within the financial industry.
- A strong ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
- A quick learner with the capacity to rapidly acquire new technical skills and safely leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance turnaround times while maintaining accuracy.
- An understanding of Indian Exchanges and their infrastructure would be a valuable asset.
- Excellent communication skills are essential for daily coordination with diverse teams and stakeholders on production-critical matters.
