Network Support Engineer

We are seeking a motivated Network Support Engineer for our client in Chennai. This role requires a strong foundation in networking principles and practical experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, and core networking concepts. Responsibilities include configuring and troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, and IP addressing (IPv4 & IPv6). You will work with routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP, and gain practical exposure to switching concepts like VLANs, STP, and trunking. The role involves performing port configurations, executing network diagnostic commands (ping, traceroute, netstat, ipconfig/ifconfig), and managing basic firewall configurations and network security concepts including ACLs, NAT, and VPNs. You will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing network performance using tools like Wireshark and SolarWinds (or equivalents), and supporting wireless networks (Access Points, SSIDs, security). A basic understanding of cloud networking, including AWS VPC and Azure VNets, subnets, routing, and security groups, is also expected. You will participate in incident resolution, root cause analysis, and documentation, and collaborate with senior engineers on network deployments and upgrades. Proficiency with Cisco networking devices and excellent troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and documentation skills are essential. Willingness to work in shifts and on-call support may be required.
