Role Summary

The Network Software Engineering Specialist will be working on the design, development and deployment in network specific technology domains. You will develop platform-specific technology roadmaps and make investment recommendations to deliver products and infrastructure meeting defined service level standards.

The role effectively supports diverse technical projects via programs of work in Technology delivery as well as providing expert input for future-looking technical projects. The measurable outcomes include the design and delivery of quality Engineering solutions for Telstra's Strategic Inventory and autonomous network.

Key Accountabilities

• Design, build and maintain applications/tools to manage and expose domain resources.
• Engage with a multi-stakeholder landscape to translate customer needs into leading-edge software application products that meet Telstra's time, cost, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with team members and key stakeholders to gather deep insights about challenges and opportunities in our software application technologies and platforms.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives of systems and processes, defining 'best practice' corporate testing standards to drive improved outcomes (productivity, customer experience and/or profitability).
• Foster continuing professional learning related to technology and methodology that benefits the individual as well as role effectiveness.
• Work using Agile methodologies in line with Telstra's strategic direction for increasing efficiency.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

• UX Design: Apply UX design principles to create intuitive user experiences.
• API Development: Develop APIs supporting integration across applications and network platforms.
• UI/Inventory Management: Design, build and maintain UIs for Telstra's Inventory (physical, logical and service layers).
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage various workgroups to gather detailed capability requirements.

Essential Technical Skills & Experience

• Experience: Minimum 4 years of overall experience in software/application engineering; Minimum 2 years hands-on API design and development.
• Frontend/Interface Development: Proficient in React.js for developing modern user interfaces (UI).
• Containerization & DevOps: Proficient in Docker; Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Bamboo, GIT (BitBucket), CodePipeline.
• API Design & Development: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience designing and developing APIs.
• UX/UI Standards: Proficiency with UX design best practices and standards (Human Centred Design).

Tools, Frameworks & Methodologies

• Agile/DevOps Practices: Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps, Lean, Human-Centred Design.
• Collaboration Tools: Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, BitBucket.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering/ Computer Science / Information Technology / Telecommunications or a related field.

Highly Desirable Skills

• Camunda: Proficiency with workflow engine Camunda.
• Automation: Experience in gRPC event triggered automation development and developing network centric tools/systems.
