About the Role
Cybersecon Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Security / Systems Engineer to join our expanding IT team. This pivotal role involves the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of our network infrastructure and robust security systems. Your primary objective will be to ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and protection against evolving cyber threats. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to safeguard company assets, sensitive data, and critical communications, while ensuring strict adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Network Engineering
- Design, deploy, and manage enterprise LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and wireless network infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain essential networking hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Proactively monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and address latency and reliability concerns.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, detailed diagrams, and topology maps.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and strategic capacity planning initiatives.
- Implement and maintain enterprise-grade security solutions such as firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
Systems Administration
- Manage and maintain server infrastructure encompassing physical, virtual (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Administer and maintain both on-premises and cloud-based servers running Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Administer core directory services and infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems.
- Perform routine patch management, software updates, and critical system health checks.
- Manage backup solutions and actively assist in disaster recovery planning and rigorous testing.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks through effective scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentoring to junior IT staff.
- Prepare and present insightful technical reports, comprehensive risk assessments, and actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Document procedures, configurations, and known issues to build and maintain a reliable internal knowledge base.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a closely related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum 3-4 years of demonstrable hands-on experience in network engineering, systems administration, or a combined security-focused role.
- Proven hands-on experience managing enterprise networking equipment and complex server environments.
Technical Skills
- Networking Protocols & Technologies: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, VPN (IPsec/SSL), SD-WAN, QoS, Palo Alto / Fortinet firewalls, SolarWinds, Nessus, Zabbix, PRTG, FortiNAC, Cisco ISE, ForeScout NAC, Microsoft NPS, Radius, Cisco Meraki.
- Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform (Strong experience is advantageous).
- Server Platforms: Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL).
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or equivalent.
- Directory Services: Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP, RADIUS.
- Monitoring tools: SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, or similar.
- Scripting & Automation: PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Ansible.
Certifications (Required or Preferred)
- Required: CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent.
- Preferred: Palo Alto PCNSE, Fortinet NSE 4+, Microsoft AZ-104, or equivalent industry certification.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively independently or as part of a team.
