Network Infrastructure Engineer

Akamai Technologies is seeking a passionate Network Infrastructure Engineer to join its Edge Platform team in Bengaluru / Bangalore, India. This role offers an exciting opportunity to design, build, maintain, and operate Akamai's global platform, which forms the technical foundation for all its products. You will be instrumental in ensuring the consistent availability and performance of critical hardware, software, and network infrastructure.

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and deploying server clusters, remotely diagnosing hardware issues, facilitating server repairs, and managing Akamai's hardware assets. This position involves managing a team of field technicians, collaborating with external partners, and ensuring exceptional service delivery by working closely with internal cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities include managing server deployment and network installation projects through collaboration with cross-functional technical teams, providing end-to-end support for deployment projects, and working with field technicians, ISPs, and Akamai partners for network infrastructure installation and maintenance. You will also be tasked with managing hardware assets and performing remote troubleshooting.

To excel in this role, you should have a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience. Experience in running Pre/Post Quality Assurance processes for network infrastructure, strong knowledge of network technologies and internet protocols, and good project management skills are essential. Proficiency in OSI layer 2, a solid understanding of OSI layers 3, 4 & 7 (HTTP/HTTPS/DNS), and hands-on experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting switches and servers are required. Basic knowledge of bash/perl/python scripting in a Linux/Unix environment and SQL is also beneficial.
