Role Description
Join the Global Network Services (GNS) team as a Global Monitoring Center (GMC) Network Operations Level-1 Engineer. In this critical role, you will be the primary point of detection, notification, and escalation for network-related incidents. Your main responsibility will be to manage and respond to network, hardware, and circuit events that could impact connectivity for Deutsche Bank clients and business operations. This position demands a thorough understanding of how both logical and physical connectivity issues affect network traffic reliability and quality, and consequently, the performance of applications and other infrastructure components.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Deutsche Bank network topology to effectively initiate investigations into issues impacting reliable network connectivity to the Bank's infrastructure.
- Proactively monitor, identify, analyze, isolate, and resolve network events using a variety of documented tools and techniques.
- Communicate effectively throughout the incident management process, ensuring timely and accurate updates as per documented procedures.
- Adhere to documented support procedures, managing each issue through to resolution or handover to maintain established service levels.
- Track, update, and resolve all assigned incidents and changes within the incident management system, ensuring thorough, accurate, and high-quality documentation.
- Properly escalate incidents in a timely manner according to support guidelines and procedures.
- Liaise with carriers, maintenance partners, internal L2 teams, or other support groups to collaborate on incident resolution.
- Maintain and enhance technical skills through ongoing training.
- Communicate issues internally and externally to management, other support groups, and customers via email broadcasts or phone.
- Perform duties in a 24x7x365 shift operations environment.
Your Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools such as SMARTs, Netcool, or other fault monitoring toolsets.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow or other incident and change management tools.
- Broad knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, WAN, and LAN technologies, including Ethernet and Spanning Tree.
- Proficient working knowledge of Cisco IOS/operating systems and Cat OS, Nexus 5k/7k/9k & FEX, and Arista switches.
- Sound understanding and working knowledge of routing protocols (RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP).
- Knowledge of data center and wide-area-network routing/switching, tunneling, security operations/engineering, MPLS and Ethernet carrier transports, and Wi-Fi.
- Experience liaising with carriers and vendors for fault resolution.
- Ability to interpret firewall logs to identify specific permission or denial of source IPs to destinations for troubleshooting.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Network Operations Analyst, or equivalent first or second-level network support experience in a global support environment.
- Ability to work in a 24-hour rotating shift schedule.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to prioritize a constantly changing workload to meet business demands.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to function effectively within a high-performing team.
- Solid understanding of ITIL and service management principles. ITIL certification is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification is preferred.
